Special Metals Corporation lays off 81 workers in West Virginia and Kentucky
Special Metals has been forced to lay off 81 workers at plants in Kentucky and West Virginia.
Their parent company, Precision Castparts, announced the round of layoffs on Monday. Officials attributed the decision to adverse market conditions. The laid off workers could be recalled as business improves. Those laid off primarily work in production and maintenance.
After the layoffs, the Huntington plant will have 542 hourly workers and the Burnaugh Kentucky plant will have 125.
