Police are searching for a man in Floyd Co. accused of using schools in scam attempt

Police are looking for a man who is accused of attempting to scam local businesses claiming to be raising money for a local elementary school.

The man was selling raffle tickets at the Neighborhood Pharmacy in Floyd County. He claimed the tickets were in connection with the recent recognition of Porter Elementary in Johnson County as a Blue Ribbon School. Employees did not donate and learned it was a scam after contacting Porter Elementary directly to verify.

Police are asking anyone else that feels they may have been a victim of the scam to contact the Floyd County Sheriff's Department.
