Transportation officials: keep political signs away from highways
State transportation officials are sending out a friendly reminder to political candidates as election day approaches: Kentucky law prohibits the placement of political signs close to highways.
The law includes signs attached to utility poles and fences. Signs historically show up en masse in the month leading up to the election. Officials say any illegally placed signs will be removed and kept at the individual's county highway garage for five working days, after which time unclaimed signs will be disposed of.
