Perry Co. man charged for allegedly starting forest fire

A Perry County man has been arrested and charged with intentionally starting a forest fire.

The Kentucky Division of Forestry was already on the scene of another fire in Scuddy when they reported seeing a man identified as 32-year-old Carew "Shorty" Blankenship intentionally setting another fire nearby. State police responded to the scene and after a search, located Blankenship, who was later identified by the supervisor with the Division of Forestry as the man who allegedly started the fire.

Blankenship was taken into custody and charged with 25 counts of first degree wanton endangerment. He was then lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail in Hazard.
