Veterans getting driver's license designation

Kentucky's veterans now have an easy way to identify themselves for better access to benefits. Veterans can now have their service recognized on their driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards, obtained through circuit clerk's offices.

The designation appears vertically and in capital letters on the right border of the photograph. In order to receive the designation, veterans are required to present a DD214 at their local circuit clerk's office. A DD214 is a Department of Defense form documenting service.

There is no additional charge to add the veteran designation to a driver's license or state ID if done during the normal renewal process, but standard renewal rates still apply.
