Police in Harlan Co. are investigating child abuse

Relatives are seeking custody of six Harlan County children after one of the children was allegedly locked in a freezer as punishment.

Randy Hammons and Connie Jenkins were arrested last week for criminal abuse. The accused couple is scheduled to appear in court later this week.

Police say Hammons put Jenkins' three-year-old son in a working deep freezer and sat on the lid for about 20 minutes. He also faces an attempted murder charge in the case.
