Officials are investigating a DUI crash in Laurel Co

Police are looking for a driver who they say was drunk and left the scene of an accident.

Laurel County Sheriffs Deputies along with Senior Sergeant Greg Pointer have investigated a one vehicle traffic crash on Hawk Creek Road, eight miles west of London.

 When Deputies arrived at the scene they found a heavily damaged black Chevy Blazer.

According to the Police the SUV had apparently been traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving on the roadway prior to running off the road. It then struck a tree causing sever damage to the vehicle.

Officials told WYMT that they found beer cans and whiskey bottles in the vehicle.

The Sheriff’s office says only one person was at the vehicle out of the six that had been in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Those involve in the accident have been located and include Linda Vaughn age 53 of London, Jody Vaughn age 27 of London, Amber Oakley age 24 of London, a 9 year old male juvenile and an 8 year old male juvenile.

All the injured were transported to St. Joseph in London.

Police are looking for 30 year old Elmer Oakley of London. Once captured he will face charges of DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor, no insurance, no registration, and wanton endangerment charges.
