The Floyd Co. Sheriff's Dept. is receiving a technological improvement
The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office is joining over 75 other law enforcement agencies in the state slated in receiveing mobile data terminals to process electronic warrants.
The terminals are mobile computers installed in police cruisers. Officers can enter a suspect’s information during a traffic stop or at other times and immediately find out if that person is wanted on an outstanding warrant.
Supporters of the system say it raises service rates from a low 10% in areas that rely on paper warrants only, to 80% once the electronic warrants are implemented.
