Floyd County Schools will be back in session today with one exception

Officials with the Floyd County School System have announced that all Floyd County Schools with the exception of McDowell Elementary, will return to the classroom today. Cleanup efforts continued on Tuesday afternoon at the Floyd County school that is no stranger to flash flooding. Flooded areas throughout the county were in the process of cleaning up on Tuesday after Monday rains dropped as much as 3 inches of rain on parts of Eastern Kentucky. Conditions had improved enough by Tuesday evening for the remainder of schools to return to class today. Officials hope to get the students at McDowell back to class in the next few days, after the Floyd County Health Department gives the ok to do so.
