An Eastern Kentucky fire department is forced to close after equipment is stolen

An Eastern Kentucky fire department was unable to operate in Wednesday, after thousands of dollars in equipment was stolen. The Pigeon Roost volunteer fire department in Martin County was unable to respond to calls on Wednesday according to a statement issued by the Martin County Sheriffs office. Someone broke into the building and stole thousands of dollars worth of equipment, even cutting wires on trucks. Hoses, oil, gasoline and other items were taken during the burglary. The department is currently relying on help in responding to emergency calls from the Inez and Warfield fire departments.
