A Floyd County grown Pumpkin is headed to China

A Prestonsburg pumpkin farmer has taken first place for his giant pumpkin at this year's Kentucky State Fair. Slone's pumpkin was grown on Spurlock Creek and weighed in at over 1,000 pounds and was also the recent winner of the Indiana state fair. Slone commented that now his pumpkin is on it's way to China to be put on display at a pumpkin carving exhibition. Slone is currently in the process of growing another pumpkin that is on pace to be larger than the state fair winner. The pumpkin will be weighed on September 21st and be on display at the Jenny Wiley Festival in October.
