Heavy Rains create more flash flooding for portions of Eastern Kentucky

Areas of Eastern Kentucky that needed no more rain in the near future, were faced with another round of flooding issues on Wednesday evening. Parts of Floyd and Pike counties were hit with heavy rain between 4 and 5 pm, creating excessive runoff that resulted in flash flood warnings. Areas of Pike county included in the warned areas were :, Belfry, Canada, Chloe, Coal Run, Hardy, Kimper, McAndrews, Shelbiana, Sidney, and Varney. Areas include in the Floyd County warnings were Martin, Garrett, Maytown and Drift. Storms during the afternoon hours produced very heavy rainfall, frequent cloud to ground lightning, quarter sized hail and winds as high as 60 mph.
