A Magoffin County School that was heavily damaged by a 2012 tornado is set to reopen

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held today at noon to reopen Salyersville Grade School. The school suffered extensive damage due to a March 2012 tornado that ripped through the Salyersville community.

The school has been completely renovated and is ready to reopen for the new school year. The public is invited to attend today's ceremony. The school opened in 2002, and has been closed for the past 16 months.

Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, parents may pick up their child's schedule, meet with school staff and tour the newly renovated building from 3 to 6 p.m. today.
