Salyersville Grade School holds ribbon cutting ceremony
Salyersville Grade School has officially reopened as of today.
The school held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, following seven months of renovations to repair the school after a tornado ripped through the building in March of 2012. Magoffin County Superintendent Stanley Holbrook was on hand for the ceremony. Holbrook told the crowd in attendance that the school system had spent five million dollars on the project for the children of Magoffin County.
He also noted that over two million had been spent to repair Magoffin County High School and that a piece of land had been purchased on the Mountain Parkway to build a new middle school.
Principal Willie Cole gave special thanks to members of the Kentucky Education Association as well as the parents of the children of Magoffin County.
Students returned to the classroom in Magoffin County this morning.
