A Johnson County man is charged with assault on his mother

Johnson County sheriffs deputies responded to a call of an assault in progress at a residence located in West Van Lear on Tuesday. Deputies determined that Donney Wayne Greathouse ll, age 24, had struck his mother, Cynthia Greathouse in the head with a hammer. Mrs. Greathouse was transported to Paul B Hall regional medical center for treatment of her injuries. Greathouse was charged with assault 2nd degree (domestic violence). He was taken into custody and and lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center. The incident remains under investigation by Deputy Terry Tussey with the Johnson County Sheriffs office.
