The Floyd County Fiscal Court will meet today with state takeover possible in the near future

Members of the Floyd County Fiscal Court are expected to hold a regular scheduled meeting this morning at 10 am in the former Floyd County courthouse. The Floyd County government has encountered major financial issues in recent weeks and a possible takeover of the county by the department for local government could occur if budget issues are not addressed by the end of the current fiscal year. Dozens of concerned citizens were on hand for a special called meeting on Wednesday, in hopes of expressing their concerns about possible layoffs and other cuts, but the group was told that they could not address the court in a special called meeting. Floyd County attorney Keith Bartley told those in attendance to return for today's regular scheduled meeting if they would like the chance to speak.

Today's meeting is expected to draw a large crowd, and Q95 news will be on hand for complete coverage. Tune in to our afternoon news for the latest on this developing story.
