All of Eastern Kentucky is under a Flood Watch
All of Eastern Kentucky is under a flood watch beginning this evening. Officials are urging drivers to remember a few important safety tips if faced with flooding while driving: Pay attention to barricades (do not ignore them by driving past them) Do not drive through standing water on roads or in parking lots (the average automobile can be swept away in just 12 inches of water and roads covered by water are prone to collapse). Attempting to drive through standing water may stall your vehicles engine. If you come upon a flooded street take an alternate route if possible. Almost 40% of flood related deaths in 2012 took place while driving a vehicle. Drivers are urged to use extra caution at night when it is harder to see possible flood dangers. Portions of Eastern Kentucky could see up to 4 inches of rain through Sunday.
