Grants are expected to help keep an Eastern Kentucky school open

Officials with the David school announced on Wednesday that several grants totaling nearly 100,000 are expected to help the school continue providing an education for teens in Eastern Kentucky. The school is receiving foundation support from the Berea College Appalachian Fund, The Bingham Trust, The Cralle Foundation, The Gheens Foundation, EO Robinson Mountain Fund and St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church. The money is designated to be used in support of the schools lunch program, to replace a heating and cooling system and to replace maintenance equipment. The school had been facing concerns as to if it could survive, but the recent announcement will help the school remain open in the future.
