Several Eastern Kentucky counties lead the state in unemployment numbers

The Kentucky Office of Employment and Training released monthly unemployment figures on Thursday showing that the counties with the highest jobless rates are concentrated in the state's mountain region where the coal industry is the leading employer. Leslie County had the state's highest unemployment rate at 18%. Harlan and Magoffin Counties were both above 16%. Letcher and Bell counties were over 14%. Woodford County recorded the state's lowest jobless rate at 6.1%
