Knott Co. murder case moves to grand jury

A Knott County murder case is now in the hands of a grand jury.

The case involves the death of 30-year-old Eric Fugate. Jerry Combs is accused of killing Fugate after an altercation between the two men.

Fugate was reported missing by family members on January 17th. His body was found near a mining road the next day in Knott County. Prosecutors convinced Judge Dennis Prater that there was probable cause to send the case to the grand jury.

The State Medical Examiner ruled that fugate died of multiple stab wounds. Police have said combs admitted to cutting Fugate but did not say he killed the man.

Combs is currently lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail.
