Kentucky State Police are investigating the death of an inmate at an Eastern Kentucky jail
The death of an inmate at the Kentucky River regional jail in Perry County is now under investigation by Kentucky State Police. Police say an inmate at the jail was involved in an altercation with two members of the jail staff on Tuesday morning. Police stated that the inmate was restrained by jail staff. Members of the staff continued to observe the inmate, who was later found to be unresponsive. Officials say the inmate was transported to the hospital, where he later died. Police have not released the cause of the altercation. An autopsy is scheduled for today to determine the cause of death. Officials have not released the name of the inmate.
