A Johnson County woma's manslaughter conviction is set for review

A woman from Johnson County who was found guilty of manslaughter in the 2010 shooting death of her boyfriend was back in court in Johnson County to ask the court to review a recent court of appeals opinion regarding her case.

The Paintsville Herald is reporting that the court concluded that Donna Wheeler's case was worthy of a review by a trial court, in order to determine if the domestic violence exemption may apply to her case. KRS states any person who has been determined by a court to have been a victim of domestic violence or abuse is eligible for exemption from having to serve 85% of their sentence before being eligible for parole.
