Three more Eastern Kentucky State Parks earn "Storm Ready" distinction

Three more eastern Kentucky State Parks were added to a list of Storm Ready parks on Monday, bringing the total to 23 Kentucky parks that have now earned the honor.

Jenny Wiley State Park hosted the event, at which Paintsville Lake, Yatesville Lake and Carr Creek Lake were honored. Being named a Storm Ready park means parks are better prepared and have safety measures in place in cases of severe weather.

With the addition of the three new parks, all eligible eastern Kentucky parks now have completed the needed training to hold the honor. Officials with the three parks were on hand Monday morning to accept the certificates naming each park as Storm Ready.
