I-64 Near Huntington W.VA Is Set To Go To 6 Lanes
After several years of delay, a project to widen I-64 to six lanes in the Huntington area is set to begin in just a couple of weeks.
The West Virgina Division of Highways announced Thursday that the widening project will take place between Exit 11, Hal Greer Blvd, and Exit 15, 29th Street.
The work will consist of adding an additional lane in both directions on the median side of the road, installing a median concrete barrier, and replacing the Cedar Crest Bridge with a new six-lane structure.
Work is scheduled to start on March 11, with prep work starting this coming Monday. The speed limit in the area will be reduced to 50 MPH during construction.
