A Magoffin Co. Man Has Been Declared Mentally Fit To Stand Trial
A Magoffin County man accused of murder has been found competent to stand trial.
31 year old Jonathan Watkins is accused of killing his stepfather, Deputy Jailer Albert Bloomfield, in August of 2012.
A competency hearing was held at which a judge declared that Watkins was competent to stand trial based on a psychological assessment. Watkins is charged with one count of murder of a police officer.
He could face the death penalty in the case.
