Three Inmates Escape During Transport

Three inmates escaped on Tuesday while returning to an eastern Kentucky jail following a court appearance.

The AP is reporting that Brian Stamper, 29, Tim Bailey, 24, and Robert Caress, 25, were returning to the Kentucky River Regional Jail when they escaped around 5 p.m. EDT, said deputy jailer Rick Neace.

The trio escaped on Kentucky 15 at the entrance of Perry County Park. Neace said no officers were injured in the escape. He did not know whether the escapees were armed.

Neace said Stamper was in jail following an arrest on persistent felony offender charges. Bailey was in jail on charges of criminal mischief and assault while Caress was jailed on theft charges.
