New proposals were presented at a public meeting in Floyd County to improve safety on US23

Area residents and concerned citizens were on hand on Monday evening to vie plans and options to improve safety conditions on a stretch of highway that has witnessed 158 crashes since 2000. Seven people have died and 59 have suffers injuries as a result of the crashes on a segment of US23 from the Ky route 80 exit to the entrance of Town Branch or Ky Rt, 3384. The first plan would include eliminating the intersection of Ky 3384 and moving it south. the second possible plan would add a wall in the middle section of the four lane and the third plan would cut the number of access points to the road down from 6 to 2. Citizens have until December 4th to give comments on the proposals.
