Eastern Kentucky counties receive grants
Grants totaling nearly 600,000 will go to help pay for recreational and tourism projects for 12 Kentucky counties, four of which are located in Eastern Kentucky. Governor Steve Beshear made the announcement on Tuesday. the grants are from the Land and Conservation fund. The four Eastern Kentucky counties that will receive the grants include: Boyd, Elliott, Magoffin and Leslie Counties. The governors office explained that the fund is a grant matching reimbursement program for projects such as campgrounds, sports fields, swimming and fishing areas, boating facilities and trails.
