Heating bills are expected to increase this winter

The PSC has issued a statement saying gas bills are expected to be higher this year as compared to last. About 44 percent of Kentuckians heat their homes with natural gas, while 39 percent use electric heat. Natural gas is expected to run about 19 percent higher for a typical customer this winter. The PSC says wholesale gas rates are up 35 percent over last year, but the wholesale cost of gas only accounts for about half of the price customers pay.
