Prestonsburg Fire and Police respond to a possible fire at the Strand Theater

Prestonsburg fire officials were called to the scene of a possible structure fire in the former Strand Theater in downtown Prestonsburg on Monday evening. Prestonsburg Fire Chief Bobby Carpenter spoke with Q95 news concerning the fire call. Carpenter explained that an automatic fire alarm was triggered by smoke in the lobby area of the Theater. A search of the building found a furnace motor had started to smoke, most likely due to the age of the motor. Chief Carpenter stated that no damage occurred inside the theater with the exception of the motor itself.
