A Kentucky senator has asked the EPA to hold a coal hearing in Pikeville
The EPA announced on Thursday that it was proposing field hearings across the nation, but none in the three largest coal producing states Wyoming, West Virginia and Kentucky. Senator Mitch McConnell in turn asked the EPA to hold one of the hearings in Pikeville. McConnell asked the EPA to organize the session to discuss the impact the agencies new regulations had on coal. McConnell also stated that he felt the hearing should be held in Pikeville because it is in the heart of coal country.
