Police have made an arrest in connection with the murder of a Johnson County woman

Police have arrested a Johnson County man and charged him with the murder of Christina Barnett. An indictment was handed down for one count each of murder, abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence. Police arrested 37 year old Gary Ward at his home in Johnson County. Barnetts body was discovered along Highway 80 in Knott County in September. Ward was taken to the Kentucky River Regional Jail. Christina Barnett's family members told WYMT that they suspected Ward from the start and were glad that an arrest had been made. Police say the murder investigation remains ongoing. An indictment is not an indication of guilt, but only that enough evidence is present to bring charges in the case.
