Adopt-a-highway fall sweeps set to take place across eastern Kentucky

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has announced the third week of September as "fall sweep week" for the adopt-a-highway program. Volunteers will be out in force in Breathitt, Magoffin, Morgan, Perry, Wolfe and several other counties cleaning Kentucky roadways of litter.

Officials with the program, in it's 25th year, stated their appreciation for the efforts of adopt-a-highway volunteers. Nearly 750 groups participate in the statewide program. Volunteers clean over 5,000 miles of roadside annually.

Any established business, association, community or public organization or government entity can adopt a stretch of roadway.
