Today is statewide high attendance day for Kentucky schools
Floyd County Schools are competing with school systems throughout the state today during "high attendance" day. Betsy Layne High School has won the statewide high school portion of the event three out of the past four years. Floyd County school officials noted that several schools throughout the county reach 98% attendance on a regular basis and that one or more schools could win the competition again this year. The school in each category that has the highest attendance today will win 500.00 dollars. Organizers of the event stated that educators agree that regular attendance is essential for school success, and that research reflects that a childs attendance is on of the strongest single predictors of their academic success.
