A Pike County safety program has earned a national award

A Pike County safety program has been named a national award winner.

"Drive Down" is a program formed as an effort to help educate and also reduce the number of highway crashes in Pike County. The program earned the national award as part of the Governors Highway Safety Association awards for outstanding highway safety measures.

Since the program's inception, traffic deaths in Pike County have fallen by 23%.
