Johnson County Sheriff's department facing possible layoffs

Wsaz is reporting that nearly one-third of the Johnson County Sheriff Department budget is expected to be cut. Sheriff Dwayne Price said the fiscal court is expected to cut nearly 125,000 from the department budget. The cuts could mean two deputies and one office clerk may be facing layoffs. Last year, the department lost 80,000.00 from it's budget when the Paintsville City Schools chose the city to collect it's property taxes rather than the sheriff's department. The Floyd County Sheriff's Department has just recently experienced budge cuts as well. The cut's forced the department to layoff deputies and suspend overnight patrols.
