Minimum wage bill clears first hurdle
Kentucky workers are one step closer to higher wages. A bill that would raise the state minimum wage has cleared a house committee. Under the bill, the state minimum wage would gradually increase to $10.10 an hour. The bill is a top priority for House Speaker Greg Stumbo. Stumbo explained that a full-time employee working at the minimum wage level makes less than the average cost of a used car in the United States. The state minimum wage has not increased since 2009.
