Willie Cauley-Stein staying at Kentucky

April 15, 2014

Kentucky big man Willie Cauley-Stein says he plans to return to UK next year for his junior season. Cauley-Stein tweeted just before 6 pm on Monday that he was "proud to say that I am coming back for my junior year" Cauley-Stein said he had an empty spot to fulfill and was in no rush to leave the best fans in the country. Several Kentucky freshmen are currently in the process of making decisions concerning their futures. Most experts feel Julius Randle will enter the NBA draft. James Young is also being mentioned as a possible first round NBA pick if he decides to enter the upcoming draft.

Cats fall one game short of National Championship

April 8, 2014

Kentucky's incredible post-season run fell one game short of a national title on Monday as the Cats fell to UConn by a final of 60-54. Kentucky ended the season at 29-11 while Uconn ended the season at 32-8. Both teams had failed to make the NCAA tournament just last season. Kentucky advanced to the championship game with a 74-73 win over Wisconsin on Saturday. UConn defeated top-seed Florida 63-53 to earn a trip to the finals.

Cats headed to National Championship

April 7, 2014

Aaron Harrison's three pointer with 5.7 seconds left lifted Kentucky over Wisconsin 74-73 on Saturday. The Cats advanced to tonight's championship game to take on UConn at 9:00 pm. Kentucky will be shooting for it's 9th National Championship tonight. The 8th seeded Wildcats (29-10) will battle the 7th seeded Huskies (31-8). The two will combine to produce the highest combined seed total for a national championship since seeding began in 1979. The previous was the 2011 game when third seeded UConn beat eight seeded Butler.
