On Friday, January 11, 2019, Kentucky State Police Post 8 Morehead received a call for assistance of an escaped inmate. The Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex advised that 40-year-old John Parrott walked off from a work release detail on Tree Nursery Road in Morgan County. On Sunday, January 13, 2019, Parrott was taken into custody near a residence on KY 705 in Morgan County. He was lodged in the Rowan County Detention Center. Parrott will be facing additional charges of burglary, escape, and persistent felony offender. The incident remains under investigation.
