Governor Bevin Announces Return of $1.3 Million to Coal Severance Fund

Governor Matt Bevin and the Department for Local Government announced on Thursday, February 7, 2019, the return of more than $1.3 million to the Single County Coal Severance accounts in 27 Eastern Kentucky counties. Among the counties to receive recovered funds are Floyd with $64,713.39; Johnson with $21,582.26; Martin with $102,686.82; and Pike County with $200,950.36. In September 2015, $2 million was deducted from the accounts to complete the Kentucky Communications Network Authority’s community broadband readiness and public computer access initiatives. After the project was completed under-budget, Governor Bevin directed the total amount of $1,335,329.54 be returned to the contributing counties.
